BUSINESS PRINCIPLES
Success in life is desired by most professionals. A lot of people search for some complex magical formula to understand why some people are successful and others are not. Let’s burst that bubble. There is NO secret formula to success. Donald Trump, Oprah, and contrary to the popular opinion in books Jesus do not have a secret formula for personal success. Success is different to each individual. The variety of personal desires, money, family, kids, church, travel, fitness, all some up our different ideas of success.
I’m going to tell you something you already know: everyone has 24 hours a day. The problem is we tend to ask of ourselves things that are to general and directionless. “I want success”, or “I want money”, or “I want a great family life”. A quote from Aristotle, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit.” Excellence and excellent results come from the repeated action of disciple and focus towards a specific goal. I’ve heard it said the difference between being a professional guitar player and playing guitar as a hobby is, the person who plays guitar as a hobby practices until he gets it right, the professional practices until he can’t get it wrong. Clarity is Power. If you don’t know exactly what you want, you’re not going to achieve it. Do you want some vague success? Do you want to go through life directionless? Do you have certain goals you would like to accomplish?
At the risk of sounding to fatalistic, it’s easy to be a looser: no effort, no drive, no motivation…that’s easy! If you want to be a winner, you have to harness your will to achieve your goals. You have to have disciple: getting up every day at the same time, not watching your favorite shows instead reading to your kids, spending an extra hour studying on the subject your trying to master. We all want to party, relax, and entertain ourselves, but understand there is someone else out there working and working hard. They are staying up late and getting up early and they are the ones achieving their goals and dreams. They will be better than you if you do not devote yourself to your goals. Your biggest enemy in your life, on so many levels, is yourself. It’s not other people’s fault, it’s yours. But that is encouraging because that means relating to your personal and professional goals is within your ability.
Here at The Walker Group, we understand that being successful in our vision, “to distinguish ourselves from all other Real Estate Property,” starts with our team. You and your individual goals. Our brand is in bodied in our people. We understand that to distinguish ourselves also means to invest in you, to distinguish yourself from other professionals. The Walker Group is committed to helping you achieve your individual professional goals. For the second quarter, the remainder of the year, and the years to come we will help you set goals and achieve them, rewarding you in the process. Our goal is to equip you to achieve your professional goals and be highly skilled at setting and accomplishing each goal set before you.
My philosophy in goals and work has always been,” You want something? Go get it.” We have to stay motivated by keeping our goals in sight but motivation doesn’t do anything but get you excited. You can watch as many videos as you like, listen to as many speeches as you like, quote Zig Zigler and Tony Robbins as much as you want, but it’s disciple, commitment, and strong habits that gets thing done. We are here to guide you in achieving your goals. We will be a group of professionals who have distinguished ourselves above all our peers, professionally and personally. I would like to leave you with a quote from Will Smith,
"The separation between talent and skill is one of the greatest miss understood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams. Talent you have naturally, skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft. I’ve never really viewed myself as particularly talented, where I excel is ridiculous, sickening work ethic. You know, while the other guy is sleeping, I’m working, while the other guy is eating, I’m working. There is no easy way around it. No matter how talented you are, your talent will fail you if you’re not skilled. If you don’t study, work hard, and dedicate yourself, being better every single day, you will never be able to communicate with your artistry the way you want. The only thing I see that is distinctly different about me is, I’m not afraid to die on a treadmill. You might have more talent than me. You might be smarter than me, but if we get on a treadmill together there is two things; you’re getting of first or I’m going to die!”
